The Western Region Power Distribution Company (a new company that has emerged from the MP State Electricity Board as a part of the power sector reforms) invites expressions of interest/offers from reputed advertising/marketing/media/communications/media/publishing agencies for formulating/launching/executing the following activities:

 

• Using Bill Distribution for Direct Marketing/Advertising of Goods

The Company generates and distributes over 24 lacs electricity bills every month to its consumers in urban and rural areas. The Company’s computerized billing system is capable of generating various reports from the viewpoint of advertising/marketing giving the advertising/marketing agency an economic/geographic profile of the consumers. The bills are distributed directly by specially appointed distributors to every consumer. The Company sees a strong commercial potential in this activity as the Company considers that there is more business potential in a regular and direct monthly contact between the consumer and the bill distributor rather than just printing a message on the bill itself. The interested agency may use this opportunity for distributing adverting/promotional material/product samples and for collecting feedback.

 

• Wired Audio Infotainment

The Company is also considering harnessing the potential of its vast network of power distribution system in primarily rural areas and also elsewhere. The company covers a geographic area of  77021 sq kms and a total of 55,41,786 rural and  22,51,753 urban population living in  12061 villages, besides towns and cities in Indore and Ujjain revenue commissionaires.

The Company is looking for a single agency or a consortium of agencies that has the technical and commercial capabilities of handling programme production, wired transmission through electrical cables, (or separately laid cables using the power distribution network of poles and transmission towers) developing and promoting low-cost receiving sets, generating sufficient advertising revenue and promoting  what is tentatively termed as “Radio Bijali” – on a turnkey basis.
